Students at Brookside School in Ossining made holiday cards today for a terminally-ill Ohio boy.
Nathan Elfrink, 8, of West Jefferson, Ohio, is suffering from brain cancer. An online appeal to send the boy 1 million cards by Christmas has brought an overwhelming amount of responses worldwide. A Brookside parent brought the idea to the school.
The first- and second-graders made about 600 cards that was expected to be mailed to Nathan later today. School officials said it was a way to teach the kids to do something nice for people, even ones they don’t know.
