Yorktown Schools offer Hearts for Haiti
On Saturday and Sunday, January 23 and 24th 2010, Brookside Elementary School students met at the Yorktown A&P to sell Hearts for Haiti.

The Brookside Student Government developed the idea. For $1 people could sign their names on a cut-out heart with a wish for Haitian quake victims. The hearts are now lining the walls of the school in tribute. The school raised over $2,400. In total, Yorktown schools have raised over $5,000 that will be donated to the Save the Children: Haiti Earthquake Children in Emergency Fund and the American Red Cross.
