On lohud and The Journal News today, there’s a story about the Ossining-based Bridges to Community, an organization that sends volunteers to Nicaragua to build homes and schools in the impoverished country.
Bridges received its second $20,000 anonymous donation recently in honor of a teen who died while on a service trip with the nonprofit in 2007. The money will be used toward building a school and homes in Las Perlas, a rural community. Bridges also sent its largest group of volunteers, 110 teens from five Westchester and one Dutchess high schools last week for their spring break.
