The Ossining Board of Education revised its 2010-2011 budget after the $102.3 million proposal was defeated May 18.
This latest version calls for a more than $500,000 decrease and includes cuts to administration, operations and maintenance and teaching assistant hours. Voters head to the polls June 15 for the revote on the $101.8 million budget that represents a 1.45 percent spending increase from this year.

This is not good enough! The budget was voted down for a reason. THis budget is not for the kids go to seethroughNY.com and see what the administration in this relatively small school district gets – They say only $100 increase, to those on a fixed income and our seniors that’s a lot of money! Now let’s cut 100,000 off of administration salaries and perks that is not a lot and if they don’t like it go and find another job! You are not a bad person/parent if you are standing up for right to vote NO! You are acting in a fiscally responsible manner and standing up for the legal Ossining Residents who can’t afford the increase! Do more with less, we have now its your turn and for those who think $100 isn’t much why don’t you agree shoulder the burden for all of us – volunteer to have your taxes go up over $1000 to cover those who do not pay taxes! Vote NO and do it FOR OUR Children
Our district is doing more with less. is your only issue the amount of money being spent on Admin benefits? If that is the case Voting no will have no effect. All the Vote No people i have heard don’t seem to understand that voting no will not get what you want. if you vote no your taxes still go up, the admin still gets paid, and the people who will be hurt are teaching assistants, janitors, clerical workers, and our childrens programs. If you want to effect admin and teacher benefits, you need to go to Albany and tell them to stop forcing large TRS contributions. If its only the seniors who can’t afford taxes because of their fixed budget, why is no one proposing cutting the Programs and services that are provided to the seniors? Because you can’t vote on it, that would require actually going to a board meeting and speaking up. Its just a lot easier to take your tax concerns out on a one time a year vote and let the schools be the only responsible ones. Wake up and look at who is causing your high taxes, stop baming the schools and do something that will help. While your at it VOTE YES for our Janitors, Clerical staff, teachers assistants (most of whom are ossining residents) oh, and our children.
