The Peekskill Arts Council will host the 13th annual Peekskill Open Studios from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m., June 5-6. Check out the release below for more information:
June 5th and 6th, noon through 5:00p.m., Peekskill Arts Council’s 13th Annual Peekskill Open Studios will showcase artwork from more than 100 emerging and established, nationally and internationally known artists. Attendees will have an opportunity to visit and converse with over 32 artists in their working studios to experience a virtual kaleidoscope of creativity. Browse the special exhibits and professional gallery spaces and museums where additional artwork is on display. There are numerous new public art sites throughout the city which include sculpture, tile, and mural installation. There will be fun for the entire family as restaurants and cafes will be open for indoor and outdoor dining all day with live entertainment throughout the day and evening hours. Tours of artists’ studios will take place both Saturday and Sunday. The guided tours of artists’ district studios will leave from the Jan Peek Gazebo at the intersection of Park and Division Streets in Downtown Peekskill at 1:00 and 3:00 p.m. each day. Maps for self guided tours will be provided at centralized locations.
Works on display will include traditional and contemporary paintings, sculptures, video art, photography, installation pieces, ceramics, prints, drawings and silk paintings. The Peekskill art scene is an evolving, changing vibrant community. New artists are moving into the area yearly. The newest organizational addition is the Ceramic Center at the Hat Factory.
Events and exhibitions include: Two special exhibitions on view at the Hat Factory including one entitled “For Love of Art: Ceramic Works” and Yamet Arts print gallery; “Peekskill Artists: Off the Beaten Track” show, hosted by Westchester Art Workshop: Special event Friday (Riverfront Sculpture Reception) and Music Saturday hosted by The Hudson Valley Center for Contemporary Art; The Paramount Center for the Arts Upper Gallery; The Flatiron Gallery; Peekskill Coffee House, exhibit & music; The Field Library Gallery; The Bean Runner Café, exhibit & music; Maxwell Fine Arts; Steel Imaginations; Innovative Arts; The Garden Gallery at Hudson Valley Health Care Center, outdoor sculpture exhibit; Artwork from The Peekskill’s Art Meetup Group; and many others.
