As moe. tour sweeps across the country, Peekskill will only be a blip on the summer road map. Yet for Westchester County moe.rons, it was a special treat to have the spectacle right in our own backyard for once.
Would I say it was the best moe. show I’ve ever seen? No, but that’s a tall order. Still, it did have some really great moments (thank you, “Dr. Graffenberg!”) and overall the playing was impressive — especially from Al Schnier, who tore the theater apart with his extraterrestrial guitar solos. (I say this probably because I was sitting right in front of Al. I just read a review from someone who was sitting in front of Chuck Garvey saying it was a “total chuck night.” Gotta love how people can have completely different experiences!)
Proving themselves to be segue masters, the band seamlessly transitioned between songs throughout the first set, bewildering those in the audience who were not used to such a thing.
After a quick set break spent with beers and buddies, the band came back and killed the second set. Despite containing a number of fan favorites, one of the band’s newest tunes, “Daydreaming,” held its own and even stood out as a masterfully written and performed new addition to the repertoire.
The show also featured Al’s return to a simple synthesizer, which some fans love and others could do without. All hope, however, that this move doesn’t mean his tendonitis if flaring back up..
Congratulations to the happy fan who had his 100th show announced at the end of the show. Glad to have been able to celebrate it with you in Peekskill!
