Rep. John Hall, D-Dover Plains, announced today that Yorktown is closer to receiving $250,000 for road repairs and improvements on Route 202 near Pine Grove Court.
The state Department of Transportation held public workshops on the project and plans to announce a design proposal in the fall.
The plan likely includes a traffic signal at Pine Grove and 202 as well as improvements to three nearby intersections. The goal is to alleviate traffic congestion and improve safety in that area.
The federal funding is part of the $45.2 billion Transportation-HUD Appropriations bill for FY 2011, which was passed the House last week and awaits Senate approval.
“I will continue to fight for federal funding for safety and traffic improvements for this important intersection and roadway in Yorktown,” Hall said in a news release. “Keeping our roads and highways in top condition is an important function of government, and investing in this infrastructure will make travel easier, safer and more efficient.”
