Ossining library presents Rosanne Cash

Posted by: Marcela Rojas - Posted in Ossining on Sep 28, 2010

Rosanne Cash will soon appear at the Ossining Public Library. Read the library’s press release for more information on the October event:

For over three decades Rosanne Cash has been one of the most compelling figures in popular music. She has achieved international acclaim as a singer-songwriter as well as an author of essays and short stories. The Ossining Public Library is proud to announce that Rosanne Cash will appear in the Budarz Theater at the library on Tuesday, October 26, at 7:30pm. Ms. Cash will be promoting her long-awaited memoir, Composed (Viking, August 2010). The event is free though tickets are required as space is limited. Free tickets are available on a first-come, first-served basis by calling the library at (914) 941-2416 ext. 327.  Tickets are limited to four per person and a library card will be required at time of pick-up.

Composed is the deeply personal story of an artist finding her voice – both figuratively and literally – in the context of her family legacy, of dealing with the music business, and of her desire to preserve some measure of privacy in a life that has been too often subjected to public scrutiny. As moving, disarming, and elusive as one of her classic songs, Composed is Rosanne Cash’s testament to the power of art, tradition and love to transform a life.

Ms. Cash will be featured in an interview setting during the October 26 program and will be interviewed by Mary McDonaugh Murphy, author of Scout, Atticus and Boo (Harper, June 2010), a collection of interviews with a variety of celebrities, including Ms. Cash, about their views of Harper Lee’s To Kill a Mockingbird which is celebrating its 50th year in 2010. Following the interview will be a short question and answer session. Ms. Cash will then sign copies of her memoir. Copies of her book will be available for sale at the event, provided by The Village Book Store of Pleasantville.

Rosanne Cash’s fourteen albums have charted eleven number one singles. She is the author of two previous books, Bodies of Water (Harper, 1995), a collection of short stories and a children’s book, Penelope Jane: A Fairy’s Tale (Harper, 2000).
