Lakeland honors Hall of Fame inductees

Six new members were inducted into the Lakeland High School Athletic Hall of Fame during ceremonies which took place at halftime of the school’s September 24 Homecoming Game.

Kristine Robinson (Class of 2002) was All League and All Section in swimming during her career at Lakeland High School and was a member of the Empire State Team and Junior Olympics. Kristine continued her swimming career in college breaking records at both Siena College Pace University. Currently she is currently teaching second grade in the Mamaroneck School District.

Colleen Carney (Class of 2003) was All Section, All State and All American in field hockey and in lacrosse as well as captain of the basketball team. She continues her field hockey career at Sacred Heart University where she was three time All American and holds the school’s assist record. She is currently the field hockey and lacrosse club coach at Sacred Heart University.

Lindsay Robinson (Class of 2003) was All Conference and All Section in both field hockey and lacrosse. She continued her lacrosse career – Field Hockey, Lacrosse, Basketball – is currently teaching physical education at Edgemont High School and is the field hockey coach, assistant lacrosse coach, and the gymnastic coach.

Nancy Patterson (Class of 2001) was a six time All American in gymnastics while at Lakeland HS as well as All Section and All State for six years. She was a four-year all league performer in track and captain of both the gymnastics and track teams. At Ithaca College she was also a four-year performer in gymnastics and an academic All American. Currently she is an athletic trainer for the Chattanooga Lookouts, an LA Dodgers AA affiliate.

Andy Seal (Class of 1989) was an All American lacrosse player, All Section and All Conference in soccer. At Adelphi University, he was a first team All American lacrosse player. Andy passed away in 1998. His mother, Virginia Seal, accepted his award.

Howie “Babe” Kanter was chosen for the honorary award as a life-long fan of Lakeland and SOAC coach. He currently coaches the Yorktown Pirates, a senior adult team with many of the former Lakeland players from the 70’s. A Bronze Star winner in World War II, Mr. Kanter was an outstanding athlete as well.

The Lakeland High School Hall of Fame’s mission is to celebrate the accomplishments of outstanding athletes, coaches, administrators and Lakeland HS supporters; to reconnect those individual and their families with Lakeland High School, and to deepen the current student athlete’s understanding and appreciation of the history of Lakeland High School athletics.
