Good Tuesday morning. Here’s a look at opinion content published today in The Journal News:
State championships: Editorial
We laud three Lower Hudson Valley state championship teams: Mount Vernon’s boys basketball team captured the Class AA title on Sunday while Irvington’s girls basketball team secured the Class B title and Peekskill’s girls basketball team took the Class A championship on Saturday. Mount Vernon’s victory was its ninth state title — no other program in the state claims as many wins.
Domestic violence: Commentary
Maria DiBari, a Dutchess County resident and advocate for victims of domestic violence, argues that New York join 16 other states in requiring perpetrators of domestic violence to wear location-based tracking systems in the form of ankle bracelets.
Kegs and Eggs at UAlbany: Reisman
Phil Reisman comments on a Saturday, March 12 riot in Albany, where undergraduate students at the state University at Albany partook in a series of Kegs and Eggs parties prior to that city’s St. Patrick’s Day parade. More than 40 students were arrested as a result of the melee, scenes of which are proliferating on YouTube.
