Voters approved school budgets in both Ossining and Peekskill tonight.
In Ossining, voters narrowly approved a $103.5 million budget. The vote was 1,761 to 1,625.
“On behalf of the Board of Education and all of our wonderful students we are truly heartened by the outcome of the efforts of so many to support our children and our community,” said Superintendent Phyllis Glassman following the results.
Voters also selected three newcomers to the Ossining Board of Education: Graig Galef, Frank Schnecker and Steve Wardwell. The candidates beat out Michael Aurora and several write-ins. Galef, the son of state Assemblywoman Sandy Galef, D-Ossining, was the top vote getter with 2,066 votes.
In Peekskill, the $72 million school budget passed 327 to 250. Voters also approved a $3.16 million bond proposition for school building improvements. Incumbents Joseph Urbanowicz and Douglas Glickert were re-elected to the board. The race was uncontested.
