Republican candidate for Yorktown Town Justice, Gary Raniolo, kicked off his campaign Wednesday at Travelers Rest.
“I am humbled and grateful for the support of family and friends,” Raniolo in a statement. “This campaign will be a long and tough road, but I’m prepared to work hard to earn the trust and respect of Yorktown voters come Nov. 8.”
Larry Cassidy, Republican Vice Chairman, affirmed Raniolo’s candidacy on the Republican ticket.
“While there were several candidates for the position, the committee felt that Gary Raniolo was the overwhelming choice for Yorktown Town Justice,” Cassidy stated.
Deputy County Executive Kevin Plunkett spoke about Raniolo’s qualifications for the position. Plunkett is the former chairman and currently a member of the state Commission on Judicial Nomination, and said Raniolo has “the essential qualities to be a first class jurist, one which the citizens of Yorktown deserve.”
Raniolo is vying for the position now held by incumbent Democrat Ilan Gilbert.
