Talk on Peekskill Military Academy
The history of the Peekskill Military Academy (PMA) will be the subject of a lecture by a graduate of the school.
Augie Augustowski, president of the former prep school’s Alumni Association, will be discussing the PMA on Saturday, June 18th, at 2 p.m., at The Little Red Schoolhouse, 297 Locust Avenue, Cortlandt Manor.
Sponsored by The Van Cortlandtville Historical Society, the program is open free to the public.
Founded in 1833 when Andrew Jackson was president of the United States, the PMA was the oldest military preparatory school in the U.S. when it closed its doors in 1968, according to Mr. Augustowski who graduated from the academy in the class of 1957. His program will be illustrated with memorabilia and photos from the school’s archives, as he relates the purpose and progression of the famed academy and its graduates over the years.
Mr. Augustowski is a lifelong, third generation resident of Peekskill.

I lost my PMA saber about 40 years ago. I was a Liutenant in the corps of cadets at PMA and graduated there in 1954. If your saber has my name etched in the blade I would be interested in buying it.
