Support Connection, Inc, announces a new date for the second annual “Home Run Derby for a Cause.”
The event, which was rained out in June, will take place on Friday, Sept. 9, at 6pm, at Peekskill Stadium, at the bottom of Louisa Street in Peekskill.
Men (and women!) who are 16 years old or older are welcome to participate in the Home Run Derby. A $25 donation is requested to participate and receive a t-shirt. Participants should bring an aluminum bat; helmets will be provided. There will be prizes to the three top players with the most home runs. Spectators of all ages are welcome to attend for a $5 donation. Refreshments will be available. For info or to register, contact Michelle at 914-962-6402 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
The Home Run Derby is part of Support Connection’s “Calling All Men” campaign which encourages men of all ages to participate in the organization’s 17th Annual Support-A-Walk. The Support-A-Walk is scheduled for Sunday, Oct. 2 at FDR Park in Yorktown Heights. In 2010, more than 9,000 people from across the Hudson Valley participated in this inspiring and uplifting community event. Participants complete a 3-mile walk, often in honor of loved ones – a celebration of life and a tribute to those who are affected by breast and ovarian cancer.
Proceeds from the Home Run Derby and Support-A-Walk fund Support Connection’s free, confidential breast and ovarian cancer support services. To learn more about Support Connection or the Support-A-Walk, visit www.supportconnection.org.
