Dine-A-Round raises $13,000

A fundraiser for educational program was deemed a big success.

Here’s a write-up from CHEF (Croton-Harmon Education Foundation) on the big night, and some photos….

The seventh annual CHEF Dine-A-Round on January 28th was a huge success, raising over $13,000 to support innovation and excellence in the Croton-Harmon schools.

The evening started at 6:00 p.m. with appetizers at the home of Electra and Bruce Martin.   Guests mingled while listening to music provided by talented student pianists.  Appetizers were provided by Capriccio’s, TK Casquarelli’s Grouchy Gabe’s, LaMonica’s Salumeria, Memphis Mae’s, The Tavern at Croton Landing, and Zeytinia.

At 7:30 p.m., over 150 guests divided up for dinner at 20 different homes around town.  The food was delicious and everyone enjoyed themselves thoroughly while catching up with old friends and meeting new friends along the way.

After dinner, dessert and dancing took place at the home of Barbara Hart and Joe Slakas.  Mr. Slakas owns The Lighthouse Ice Cream Kompany in Tarrytown and generously provided homemade all natural ice cream and toppings from Lighthouse.  Susan O’Keefe, of Baked by Susan, also donated platters of sumptuous desserts.    Croton’s very own Real Rough Diamonds provided the dance music.  They had everyone up and dancing to celebrate the success of raising over $13,000 for the Croton-Harmon schools.

Other local businesses that contributed to the evening were:  DePrez Wines, Green Growler, Old Post Liquors, Save-Mor Pharmacy, ShopRite, and Van Wyck Liquors.

Debra Schor, CHEF Co-President, said of the event, “I am thankful to so many people who made this evening possible – the hosts, the guests, the teachers, the Co-Chairs of the event, Gillian Jackson Champlain and Maria Slippen, and the local musicians and businesses that help us to help our schools.”

Suzanne Smith, CHEF’s Fundraising Co-Chair said, “Mark your calendars now for the next big CHEF fundraiser.  Under The Stars Dinner Dance & Auction will be held on May 19th at Monteverde at Oldstone Manor.  Tickets and more information will be available soon at www.crotonfoundation.org.
