The second annual Rich Royster Flag Football Scholarship event will be held this Saturday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Cedar Lane Park.
Royster, 20, a student at Central Connecticut State University in New Britain, was killed in a car accident Jan. 22, 2011 in Hartford along with Brittany Mariani, 24, of Ludlow, Mass., also a university student and the driver. He loved sports and played football on the defensive line for the Division I team.
Family and friends established the Rich Royster Schoarship Fund to help one student each at his three schools — Hastings High School, Ossining High School and Central Connecticut State University.
The cost to play at the event is $20.
