CHEF benefit called a success

Here’s a follow-up to a benefit for Croton schools….
On Saturday, January 26th, the Croton-Harmon Education Foundation (CHEF) held their annual Dine-A-Round fundraiser, and it was an unqualified success, with over 150 attendees.
For this year’s Dine-A-Round, Croton residents were able to purchase tickets for either a 2-course meal or a 3-course meal to be held at one of 15 local homes, with the proceeds going to support CHEF. People were also able to purchase tickets to an “after party”, with dessert, drinks, and dancing at the Croton Yacht Club later in the evening.
At the Yacht Club, CHEF organized a live auction; items included original artwork by Croton artists Melissa Freebern and Cassandra Hooper, classes from Croton Academy of Arts, prime meats from Lobel’s, ringside seats to the Westminster Kennel Club dog show, courtesy of USA Network, and custom furniture handmade by Dan Fabian.
The entire evening’s festivities were organized by event co-chairs Gillian Jackson-Champlain and Maria Slippen to raise money for CHEF, a non-profit organization whose mission is to support excellence and innovation in the Croton-Harmon schools by funding initiatives that go beyond traditional classroom learning.
CHEF recently funded the largest single grant in its history – 64 laptops, to be stationed in multiple classrooms, across disciplines, allowing students in each 8th grade class to use the laptops for research and analysis.
CHEF is deeply thankful for the support of businesses from the area who made this event possible, including Ray Clifford, Dennis Kooney and Pete Sedlmeier from the Croton Yacht Club, Susan O’Keefe of Baked By Susan, Michael Grant from the Black Cow, Seana O’Callaghan from the Green Growler, Emily Prince from Sunshine & Clover, Wendy Moesch from Van Wyck Liquors, and Vehemy Orchids.
