News from the organizers of an upcoming benefit to raise funds for the victims of Hurricane Sandy and the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting:

“We need to do more to help,” says Andy Polay, a local resident who, together with friends, is organizing the “Help 2Sandys Benefit” to raise funds for the victims of Hurricane Sandy and the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting.

On Sunday, February 17, from 1 p.m. through 9 p.m., Peekskill’s BeanRunner Café will be the hub for non-stop music, raffles and a silent auction.  Participating Westchester restaurants will also donate 20% of the day’s profits to the cause.  All monies raised by this benefit will be shared equally between Sandy Hook Elementary School relief and the American Red Cross Hurricane Sandy fund.

“ ’Remember and Rebuild’ is our message,” states Mr. Polay, who is having fundraiser t-shirts printed with this slogan.  “While many of us have already made donations, we have to do more.  We can’t stand by while so many people are still suffering.”

Musical guests will include local and world renowned artists playing everything from rock to jazz.  Thus far, the line-up includes John Abercrombie, Lawrence Anthony, John Basili, Les Bloome, BTL Mania, John Castleman, Dean Friedman and the South St. Fusion Project, Derrick James, Sanjra Livingston, Guy Lowe, Waldron Ricks, Cheryl Skinner, Mark Tonelli, and T-Ray and the Smoking Section.  Mr. Polay will also take a turn, playing drums alongside his band of jazz musicians.

The BeanRunner Café is located at 201 South Division Street in Peekskill.
