Three staffers are being honored in the Lakeland School District:
The Lakeland Education Foundation (LEF) will honor three district employees at its 20th annual Casino Night and Dinner Dance to be held at the Villa Barone in Mahopac on Saturday, March 9, 2013.
The LEF is again honoring some of its biggest supporters. This year’s honorees are Rebecca Carcova, Lisa Ieppariello and Jody Nusbaum. Active in the LEF as well as parents of Lakeland students, Lisa and Joy work as secretaries at Benjamin Franklin Elementary School. Becky is a long time resident of the district and currently works as the district’s webmaster.
“We are proud to honor these three women who have continued to lend support each and every day for the LEF’s efforts,” said LEF President Denise Kness.
The Foundation’s goal is raise more than was raised last year. This is the LEF’s largest fundraising event. Major sponsors this year include Entergy; Shaw, Perelson, May, Lambert, LLP; Yorktown Chamber of Commerce; Alliance for Safe Kids (ASK); the Hudson Valley Hospital Center; Camp Nabby; and Houlihan Lawrence and Barbara Burroni.
“We congratulate Joby & Lisa and all past honorees for their contributions to the school district, to the community and, most important, to the students,” said Barbara Nicotra-Burroni. “We are proud to sponsor the Lakeland Education Foundation. We provide a service to the community and we give back to the community that we serve,” explained Burroni, an active Lakeland school district parent and a a Licensed Real Estate Agent with Houlihan Lawrence Yorktown Brokerage located in Jefferson Valley.
The Lakeland Education Foundation seeks to provide opportunities for the students and staff of Lakeland to expand learning opportunities, to maximize the potential of each student, and to augment the fine work that is already underway in the Lakeland Schools.
“The Lakeland Education Foundation has been working hard for the past 19 years to enhance the educational experience for all Lakeland students,” said Ms. Kness.
The money raised at the evening’s activity will be used to help fund the Foundation’s grant program. Created in 1994, the Foundation has now awarded more than $413,000 in grants to help enhance the educational experience of students in the district.
The LEF is actively looking for new volunteers, trustees and donors. If you are interested in helping the LEF to raise money to fund education grants to the Lakeland Schools, please email your contact information to LEF@LakelandSchools.org
