News from Assemblywoman Sandy Galef on her upcoming television program, “Dear Sandy.”
The latest installment of Assemblywoman Sandy Galef’s television program “Dear Sandy” explores and highlights the work of local Ossining artist and children’s book author Gary Golio, writer of the recently published, Spirit Seeker- John Coltrane’s Musical Journey. Golio discusses with Galef his work, influences and his long, interesting past.
Golio, along with talking about being an artist and author, also discusses how he has explored the fields of social work, psychotherapy and music. There are many sides to Golio, and a lot more to him than meets the eye. “I was Valedictorian of my High School class, and then when I went to college, within a month I dropped out of school. That kind of set a pattern for me of seeming to do one thing, and then actually doing something else,” said Golio.
After dabbling in the arts again, as his father before him had done, Golio eventually went back to school in order to pursue another career. His life has taken him many different places, in a way that as he put it, “my parents would have never imagined such a thing.” For him it has been about changing passions, or sometimes just survival. Golio takes Galef and the viewers on a journey down the winding path of his accomplished life. Assemblywoman Galef said, “It was incredible hearing what Gary Golio has done, and I am sure that my constituents will enjoy hearing all about him as much as I did.”
Golio’s most recent focus on children’s books looks at musicians and artists that he feels are special people, such as Jimi Hendrix, John Coltrane and others that have had an impact on him, just as he attempts to have a positive impact on those around him.
