CORTLANDT MANOR — Attention all men: get ready to grow your beard for a good cause.
March 1 kicks off Hudson Valley Hospital Center’s 2nd Annual Winning Winter Whiskers fundraising campaign to benefit the Cheryl R. Lindenbaum Comprehensive Cancer Center.
Men can sign-up to participate online at www.hvhc.org and create a personal page to support the furry-faced fundraiser for a great cause.
“Last year’s campaign was a great success creating a fun buzz around the hospital and the community which raised funds and awareness for the Cancer Center,” HVHC President, John Federspiel, who will be participating once again this year, said in a press release. “This year is going to be even better with the new event website allowing participants to set-up a personal fundraising page and donors to easily make online donations. We look forward having local gentlemen participate in the challenge and for the community at large to sponsor them and join us at the Beard Bash on April 1st.”
It’s simple to get started. With the new website built specifically for the event, men can register, create their personal page, send out emails to their contacts and share with their social networks easily. Each participant should start clean shaven on March 1 and snap a photo be used as a before photo. Photos of all participants will be posted on the HVHC Facebook page along with competition updates throughout the month.
The “Beard Bash” sponsored by the Peekskill Brewery will take place in the Tap Room at its brand new location on South Water Street on April 1 from 5 to 8 p.m. The event will be open to the public for a donation of $25 at the door and awards will be given for Most Money Raised, Wildest Beard, Longest Beard, and Most Creative Fundraising Tactics. Sponsorship opportunities for the Beard Bash are available. Information can be found on the event website or by calling the HVHC Foundation Office at 914-734-3526.
