News from Ossining school district on Ossining High students heading to international science fair:
For the fourth year in a row, Ossining High School will be sending the largest number of students representing Westchester and Putnam counties to the International Science & Engineering Fair (ISEF).
ISEF is the largest high school science competition in the world, bringing together more than 1600 students from more than 60 countries. This year, the week-long event will be held in Phoenix, Arizona May 12th – 17th, 2013. More information about this “superbowl of science fairs” can be found at http://www.societyforscience.org/isef/
On Saturday, March 9th, more than 350 students from Westchester and Putnam counties competed for more than $10,000 in prizes and the opportunity to earn an all-expenses paid trip to ISEF by presenting their research in poster format to professional researchers from colleges, universities and industries the New York Metro area.
Of the thirteen projects that move on to the International level, Ossining is proud to be sending four projects to attend and compete at INTEL ISEF. Those winners are Claudia Mimoso, Caleb Hersh, Sheida Takmil, Sania Khalid and Amrita Ramesh.
Additionally, Ossining students claimed two of the three spots in the International Sustainable World Project Olympiad Awards. These students, Edward Aryee and Daniel Scanteianu, will be attending the week-long event held annually in Houston, Texas, May 8th – 12th, 2013.
