A deal has been worked out with the administration and the teachers union in Briarcliff.
Here’s the announcement:
At the April 8, 2013 Board of Education meeting, the Administration shared with us and the community its proposed budget for the 2013-14 school year. The proposed budget is actually lower than the current budget which is important in light of the significant financial challenges we face this year. A key component of the proposed budget is an agreement between the Briarcliff Teachers’ Association and the Board of Education that calls for no increase in salary or step for the next school year. In addition, the administrators have taken a salary freeze as well.
The Board of Education announced that on Saturday April 13, 2013, from 11 AM to 2 PM, members of the Board will be at Starbucks on North State Road in Briarcliff Manor, to address community questions and comments regarding the 2013-2014 proposed budget. We encourage you to stop by and provide your input as you play a vital role in the budget development process.
We want to thank community members who joined our Board of Education meeting last night and shared their comments and questions.
Related to the long-term fiscal challenges we face as a school district, the Board of Education also announced the establishment of a long-term planning committee and is seeking community members to join this effort.
