Here’s an announcement about affordable housing development in Yorktown…
This Thursday, May 16th at 11:00 AM, Marathon Development Group will hold a ribbon cutting ceremony to celebrate their newest community, Underhill Crossing, a sixty (60) unit affordable housing property, located in Yorktown Heights, NY.
Financed with 9% Low Incoming Housing Tax Credits awarded by New York State Homes & Community Renewal (“HCR”), the preservation of Underhill Crossing as affordable housing was imperative to Westchester County, as it is one of the few affordable housing properties located in Yorktown Heights. Marathon worked together with HCR and local elected officials to ensure residents in Yorktown Heights had an option for quality, affordable housing.
With a total development cost of $10.3 million, Underhill Crossing is Marathon’s most recent redevelopment project. Marathon renovated the building’s interior and exterior; with new kitchens and baths, and increased accessibility as well as numerous green features including Energy Star appliances and LED lighting, LOW-E/Argon windows, new roofs with additional insulation, , water conserving fixtures, high efficiency boilers and motors, low VOC paint and two rooftop solar/photovoltaic systems.
“I am extremely proud of the modernization of Underhill Crossing and its preservation as affordable housing,” said Mark Soja, President of Marathon Development Group. “The successful development of Underhill Crossing shows that with support of NY State and local government, attractive, high quality affordable housing that fits in with the surrounding community is possible in Westchester County.”
