Owen Summers, 5, of North Carolina, was up visiting relatives in Westchester when he caught this 30-inch sturgeon Wednesday off Steamboat Dock in Verplanck, his uncle, former Peekskill resident Brian Summers reports. The youngster was fishing with his grandfather, Kevin Bristol of Peekskill.
Brian Summers, who now lives in Manhattan, says his nephew now considers himself a “master fisherman” because of this catch. Owen has caught catfish, eels, bunker, largemouth bass, sunnies and perch but his “10 minute battle” with the sturgeon is now epic.
